I joined the Navitas crew almost 8 months ago and it is a decision that I will never regret making. Two years prior to joining Navitas I was hitting the gym pretty hard to make myself bigger and stronger and constantly changing workout cycles, but I was finding that while I was getting aesthetically bigger I wasn’t finding myself getting much stronger. Also began to find myself plateauing more frequently and those plateaus getting harder and harder to break. Around April of last year was when I started looking into crossfit, I was watching videos on YouTube, reading articles and just beginning to get hooked before even doing it myself. Then in July I signed up to join Crossfit Navitas. I always felt that I was fit because I was always actively involved in sport, Rugby being my main one, but boy was I wrong. I can still remember going through the fundamentals and being sprawled flat on my back after each workout and having to dig deep to get through the workouts. Couldn’t believe how actually unfit I was. Two months after joining Navitas it was the start of pre-season rugby training, and that was when I started noticing that I was fitter after the 2 months of Crossfit than I was at the end of a rugby season. Because Crossfit is all about constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity, what you learn in the gym you apply to everything outside of the gym. I could instantly see that Crossfit was going to improve my rugby both physically able to tackle harder, also run longer and faster and have a bigger engine to go harder for longer. The thing that I love most about Crossfit is that you never plateau. The Workouts (WODs) are never the same, even if they are going to be the same exercise there is always more weight to be lifted or another rep to be found. The best thing about Navitas is the trainers and the people in Navitas. It is almost like a family, you just instantly bond with everyone because we are chasing the same goal to be fitter and healthier, bigger and stronger, but of course the fun doesn’t just happen in the gym, there are the social nights out which are always guaranteed to be a good laugh. Because we all go through the WODs together, we all rally around one another and push each other to get that last rep or extra rep, or to hit that PB that you’ve been trying to get for a few weeks. I wouldn’t have considered myself a competitive person, but Crossfit brings out the competitor in you and you just can’t help but to pick someone to go head to head with and beat their time, lift a kilo heavier, or get one rep more during the wod. Because of the training in Navitas, I now feel that my strength numbers are starting to match how I look aesthetically, but there is more there to push for. I never knew just how much more there was for me to achieve or where my potential was, but with Navitas I am on the right track to reaching my potential and more. While there are some WODs that I smash there are WODs that smash me, but that just makes me want to come back for more, and every day I look forward to coming into Navitas and going hard before going home. It is definitely the best way to start or end your day!!! Conor
Hey guys, so I have been cross fit training now for approx 9 months and what a jouney it has been!I hadn’t really heard about CF and my friend had persuaded me to go along and check it out! To be honest when I initially walked in I was a little unsure about the whole set up as I came from a yoga and standard gym with 20 treadmills type background so to see a stripped down CF gym made me wonder would this be for me. Once I did the 7 fundamental classes and started getting into it my mindset and opinions on CF really started to change. It really was so different from anything I had done before and I genuinely thought I had a pretty good level of fitness before joining and was in relatively good shape(That is until Alex took my 2nd set of measurements and showed me my before and after pictures). At the start and I’ll admit even sometimes now the workouts of the day (WODs) were a real challenge and pushed you harder than I had ever imagined. But in saying that when you walk out that door you really felt amazing and full of energy. For the first few months I used to just show up do a scaled down version and go home without really trying to reach my full potential, however you won’t get away with this for long with our trainers as they will push you harder than you’ve been pushed before! Once I started pushing myself and working on techniques like strict push ups, pull ups and double unders my mindset changed dramatically. I,like pretty much most of my CF friends in Navitas became a little obsessed with our new found passion! I could see myself getting much quicker, determined and even competitive in class.I became more health conscious also and once I started training hard and introduced a more cleaner eating regime I really started seeing huge changes in my body shape and also my fitness levels. To sum CF navitas up in the last 9 months it really has become a huge part of my life and one of my favourite places to be.I have made some really super friends including the trainers and we’ve had some really fun nights out (these guys know how to work hard but party even harder). Each class is going to be different so you are going to learn so many different skills and techniques as well as to learn to lift heavier, box jump higher, burpee quicker, plank hold longer and run faster. There will literally be blood, sweat and tears, but at 32 yrs old I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve been, i’ve pushed myself and shown i can be as fit as any 24 year old by being number one under three work out challenges on the leader board and its all down to personal mindset and Navitas and their fantastic training team! I’d urge you all to give it a go and come down and see what its all about.Promise you “definately” won’t look back and we’ll all be there to welcome you to the Navitas family and work together to help support you achieve your amazing results and personal goals too!!! Since joining Crossfit Navitas last June I can honestly say the only regret that I have is that I didn’t find Crossfit sooner. It is so much more than just a gym. The coaches and other members inspire and encourage you to achieve things you never thought possible at first. It is the bombardment of fresh terms, philosophies, movements, efficiency techniques and crucially the variety of workouts that make it so special. The coaching, programming and importantly atmosphere in Navitas is excellent .It is almost impossible not to far exceed the goals that you set for yourself once the quality advice is taken on board. I thoroughly recommend Crossfit Navitas and can only recommend, regardless of your current condition/fitness level that you try it. It will change your perceptions of what is physically and personally achievable. Colm Dawson
When I was first told about Crossfit Navitas, I have to say that I felt I was too old to be bothered messing around a Gym that looked like a scene out of “Mad Max”!!!! But I did and now I am the happier for it, basically you are taken care of from the time you enter to the time you leave, ( this is the difference I was looking for ) during the sessions the boys talk us through our program, help us get through it and also tell us all about nutrition. Crossfit fits my life right now,and I leave the gym everyday with a smile on my face, ready to face whatever life is going to throw at me !!!!! Desmond Brown.
